The Party of Money Needs Money to Win

Apparently, Republicans have nothing to run on except money, lots of it, mostly for negative ads. That's the formula for right wing Republicans who currently control their party. Apparently, it's the only way they can win. See Kevin Drum's post at The Washington Monthly.

Sad to say, this is just one more disgusting indication of how money is perverting the system.

For the simple truth is that the Republicans' record, by every parameter, as to every responsibility, considering every issue, is so unremittingly horrible, no American in their right mind would want to keep them around for more of the same.

And all that is before the matter of rampant corruption eruptions is taken into account.

No amount of campaign cash, no barrage of fear-and-smear attack ads, should be able to overcome all that.

But finally, there's the 800-ton yoke around their neck: Iraq.

Even a superpatriot, firebreathing anti-terrorist hawk should hold these bunglers in contempt for making a complete botch of the Iraq occupation, damaging the military and distracting from real efforts against international terrorist activities no end in the process.

Congressional Republicans are so bad, I don't see how their own next of kin can be willing to vote for them.

Only the big-money, corporate interests have a credible reason to vote Republican this time. And even they must hold their nose while doing so.

Oh, come on, SW, tell us what you really think!

Did you hear the hearty "Amen!" from the Limb?

I have to read daily the comments of my beloved family bloggers, who express just as strongly the opposite views (rarely bothering to put forward even superficial evidence). I can't for the life of me understand how these otherwise intelligent, loving, considerate, patriotic folks can be so blind to the shenanigans, dishonesty, incompetence, unAmerican domestic spying and torture, bribery, arrogance --- someone stop me ---

Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhh!

There. I feel better now.

Unfortunately, denial is more than a river in Egypt, and concocting comfy, self-serving versions of reality has been legitimized for too many Americans.

Of course, that approach can't be sustained indefinitely because painful reality always exerts itself in the end.

S.W. and Terrell, you guys make my day!

If either one of you ever figure out why good honest Bush supporters insist 2+2=6, I'll gladly put up the post anytime.

But I think people are beginning to come around. Just hope a majority use their heads November 7th.
