BBC Covers a Single Day in Iraq

The BBC decided to cover a single day of the war in Iraq: April 7, 2006; Perhaps Bush should leave his bubble for a moment and read what's happening in the real world. His war in Iraq is not going well. Passing his mess onto the next president is a disgrace. Leaving Rumsfeld in charge at Defense is an abomination.

The American people cannot make wise decisions about where this country must go unless they inform themselves. I don't enjoy reading this stuff. It's painful to read and it makes me angry because I know too much about what has gone wrong and how much our president is responsible for the debacle.

We are capable of better, so much better. Our soldiers, in particular, deserve an administration that is competent and that is honest with them. And our soldiers deserve a public that is paying attention and demanding change.

Right about now, I think people ought to demand that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice should spend some time on the ground in Iraq, personally. They could take turns going for a week or 10 days each.

Their presence would reinforce their image of being resolute, I'm sure. It might even do something for troop morale, if for no better reason than misery loves company.

And, if something terrible should become of one or more of them, ahem, the deceased(s) would go down in history as martyrs for the neocon cause.
